The top ten worst suggestions commonly given to someone with a chronic illness

For those of you who are dealing with a chronic health problem, you may get a laught from reading this link! If you can relate, please post a comment to this blog and share with other Ask a Nurse Now readers. I have always stressed how important it is for individuals who are chronically ill, to maintain their identity versus becoming their illness.
If you run into someone you know is sick, do not initially bring up the illness. First, talk to them as you would a healthy individual you ran into. Sick people find themselves constantly being asked by others about the illness. People ask this out of concern because they care. But if we can educate everyone to be conscious about this, it's a good start!
